The Summer of Sadness

This marks
the summer of sadness
the summer of madness
When its beauty became
stained by
markings of darkness
and spilled blood
when broken cries
ripped through still skies
When the sun’s rays
was drowned out
by looming
billows of
smoked dust
from murdered lust
A summer best forgotten.
